Hotpoint are one of the biggest washing machine brands in the UK. With a long company history, Hotpoint have constantly delivered high performance washing machines to the market. From time to time though, a few things can go wrong with your Hotpoint washing machine. Below are a few tips to help you with any washing machine problems you may come across.
My Hotpoint Washing Machine keeps turning itself off
Is your Hotpoint washing machine in Standby Mode? Models manufactured from January 2010 may have Standby Mode (for power saving and lower energy consumption). The appliance can be recovered from Standby by simply pushing the start button briefly.
My Hotpoint Washing Machine Will Not Empty
If your Hotpoint washing machine empties into an under sink waste system please ensure that the blanked end of the waste spigot has been removed as failure to do this will result in the washing machine refusing to empty.Check that the waste hose has not become trapped or kinked as this could also result in a failure to empty the waste water outof your washing machine.
If you have a “crease care” or “rinse hold” option on your washing machine, ensure that it has been de-selected as using either of these options will hold the washing in the final rinse water on synthetic wash programmes. If your Hotpoint washing machine empties into a stand pipe, ensure that the waste hose is not pushed more than 4inches down the stand pipe.
My Hotpoint Washing Machine Will Not Spin
Your Hotpoint Washing Machine has an in built feature to prevent it spinning with an unbalanced load. This will minimise excessive vibration and prolong it’s life.
Before each spin the control system senses the load within the drum and if it considers the load to be unbalanced, it will not automatically spin. Instead, the Washing Machine will try to redistribute the load to achieve balance by tumbling backwards and forwards. If it is unable to balance the load after a number of attemts, the spin process will then be aborted.
On Washing Machines fitted with a ‘Final Spin’ indicator light, this light will be flashing to advise you that this has occured. On other Washing Machines you may notice that the clothes are still soaking when you attempt to remove them from the drum. If this safety feature is encountered you can spin the load again after first opening the door, redistributing the load and and reselecting a spin programme.
There is a Light Flashing on my Washing Machine
Many of the newer Hotpoint Washing Machines have a series of indicator lights, which flash to indicate a possible fault on your installation or simply to let you know a problem occurred whilst you were away from your Hotpoint Washing Machine.
Pre wash light flashing
Indicates a failure of your Hotpoint Washing Machine to fill correctly. Check your fill hoses for a blockage, a leak, a kink or to make sure that they are turned on.
Wash light flashing
Indicates that your programme dial has been moved from its original position. Simply returning the wash dial to its original position will restore the light to its original status.
Spin light flashing
Indicates that the Hotpoint Washing Machine has considered the wash load to be excessively un-balanced. Open up the door of the Hotpoint Washing Machine, re-distribute the garments and retry the spin to resolve this.
End light flashing
Indicates that the Hotpoint Washing Machine has reached the end of a wash programme.
Wash, rinse and spin lights all lit at the same time would indicate a possible blockage in your under sink wastes system
